Sports Watch Showcase Event

Sports Watch Showcase Event

What are Sports Watches?

Sport watches are extremely popular, and pretty much every watch company today offers one or more watch of this type, from Tag Heuer’s Racing watches, to Seiko’s “Tuna” Prospex dive watches, to one-off microbrand Dive watches. They evolved out of watches developed for military purposes, which understandably need to be tough and easy to read. In the 1950s and 1960s watch companies developed watches for newly popular sports such as scuba diving and motor racing. These watches quickly became hugely fashionable. Their strong looks, waterproofing and reliable construction means they remain top sellers.

Despite the enormous range available, the most popular watch models in the world, with waiting lists many years long, are all sport watches; the Rolex Daytona Cosmograph, the Patek Phillipe Nautilus, and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak are unlikely to go out of style any time soon.

The Watch Collectors’ Club exists to bring people together to explore, learn and share the world of watches. To bring together watch lovers like you.

We are delighted to announce our next virtual event, and we are keeping it simple by showcasing Sports Watches. It’s on Thursday April 8th, at 6:30pm BST.

You bring the watches, we will host the discussion. Here’s how it will work:

  1. Send us a pic or pics of your Sports Watch, of any brand
  2. We will put the pics together
  3. We host and run the Zoom call
  4. Each person will get two minutes to introduce the watch, what it means to them, and what they like about it
  5. If people want to discuss it, we discuss it
  6. We all learn a little, and see some great watches.

That’s it. A stress-free way to learn what’s out there, and hear why people wear what they wear. If you don’t want to participate, that’s fine, you can just listen in. It’s a showcase and a get together. We will be kind, considerate, and interested. We ask you be the same.
